❤️ Wisp • 17 Years of Experience & Still Ready to Ride

Before you scroll past Wisp because she is 17 years old, take another look. Her age may actually be one of the best things about her.

Wisp is a 17-year-old, approximately 14.2-hand grade Paso Fino mare with a wonderfully smooth gait and the quiet, dependable nature that so many riders are searching for.

She is beginner safe, has a dependable whoa, and is a comfortable, enjoyable trail partner. Wisp has reached an age where she has experience behind her, but that certainly doesn't mean her riding years are over.

🐴 DON'T LET 17 SCARE YOU

Healthy, sound horses can continue being ridden well into their 20s, and some remain active into their 30s. Every horse is different, of course, and health, soundness, care and workload all matter.

I know this from personal experience.

I had a mare that I was still running PRCA barrels on at 26 years old. After I retired her from barrel racing, my mother continued riding her on trail rides. We bred her at 27, she foaled at 28, and that mare lived until she was 42 years old.

That experience taught me a lesson I've carried with me throughout my years with horses:

OLD DOESN'T MEAN DONE. ❤️

So when I look at Wisp at 17, I don't just see a number.

I see 17 years of life experience.

Those are years of learning, maturing and becoming the seasoned horse she is today. A younger horse can offer youth, but youth cannot replace years of experience.

For a beginner, recreational rider, or someone wanting a quiet, smooth-gaited trail partner, that experience can be incredibly valuable.

No horse of any age comes with a guarantee, and we always welcome buyers to have a veterinarian perform a pre-purchase examination.

Don't pass up a wonderful horse simply because the number 17 makes you nervous.

Wisp isn't looking for someone who wants the youngest horse in the barn.

She's looking for someone who recognizes the value of a good, experienced one. ❤️🐴
