🐴 The Story of Scooby Dooby Doo ❤️

Some horses come into your life and instantly remind you why you do what you do. Scooby is one of those horses.

Affectionately known as Scooby Dooby Doo, this sweet 17-year-old gelding has a story that will pull at your heart. We love him, and seeing him come to us in the shape he was in was truly heartbreaking.

We didn’t worry about taking those “before” pictures because our focus was on helping him. The pictures you see are actually from about two weeks later, and they show just how much a little love, proper care, a good worming program, and a consistent feeding routine can change a horse’s life.

In his younger days, Scooby was a ranch horse. He knew a job and spent his years taking care of his people. Unfortunately, life had taken a toll on him. He came to us very thin, with abscesses in 3 of his 4 feet, and needing someone to step in and give him the care he deserved.

We have started putting the pieces back together. He has been wormed, put on a proper feeding routine, and his feet have been cleaned up and cared for. Slowly but surely, Scooby is getting the chance to become the horse he was always meant to be.

We put one light ride on him just to see what was still there, and this boy reminded us that the good ones never forget. We only rode for about 10 minutes, but in that short ride Scooby showed an incredible amount of knowledge and experience.

Scooby is truly the best of both worlds. With an advanced rider, he can go out and still do a job. But put a little one on his back, and he becomes the kind of horse that takes care of them with all the patience and kindness in the world. He is the type that wants to please and knows his job.

Right now, Scooby is being fed up and given the time he needs to continue gaining weight and rebuilding his strength. He will be posted for sale once he is ready, but if the perfect family comes along who wants to give this old ranch horse the chance he deserves, we may consider letting him go early.

Scooby is not just a horse. He is a reminder that sometimes the greatest treasures are the ones that need someone to believe in them first.

Here’s to giving Scooby Dooby Doo the happy chapter he deserves. ❤️🐴

With all the love,
A Ranch Horse
