At A Ranch Horse, we open our gates and our hearts to horses in need, giving them the care, compassion, and second chance they deserve.

Here, we share their journeys as they heal, grow, and rediscover what it means to be cared for. Some arrive after experiencing neglect, malnutrition, or abuse. No matter their past, they are met with patience, kindness, and the time they need to recover.

One of the hardest rescue cases we have ever faced was Clover. She came to us heartbreakingly thin and frail, and we weren't sure she would survive. We were also told she was bred, which made her condition even more concerning.

Against all odds, Clover gave birth to a beautiful filly we named Willow.

Their story is one of hope, resilience, and second chances. Today, Clover and Willow are thriving together in a loving home where they will never again have to wonder where their next meal will come from. ❤️

Shez Cool and Famous

Born March 21, 2007, Shez Cool and Famous, affectionately known as “Cool,” is a registered AQHA mare who has been through more than her fair share of hard times.

When we found her, Cool was thin, tired, and forgotten. But underneath the rough edges was a sweet mare who still had trust and love to give. There was something special in her eyes, and we knew she deserved a second chance.

Since coming to A Ranch Horse, Cool has been gaining weight, rebuilding her strength, and learning what it means to feel safe and cared for. Day by day, she is becoming brighter, healthier, and more confident.

Cool may have been overlooked in the past, but those days are behind her. She deserves a loving forever home where she will be cherished and never forgotten again.

Her story is a reminder that sometimes the horses who need us most simply need someone willing to give them a chance. ❤️🐴

Margret

Most just call her Marg.

We got a call from the sheriff on a gray afternoon about an old mare who had been dumped in a neighborhood. No halter. No explanation. Just left behind.

We have rescued thin horses. We have rescued scared horses. We have rescued forgotten horses.

But we weren't prepared for Marg.

She stood like a ghost of herself, with sharp hips, visible ribs, and eyes that seemed unsure of what had happened to her. She wasn't wild or mean. She was simply bewildered.

Yet when it was time to load her, Marg walked right into the trailer. Still trusting. Still willing. That told us everything we needed to know about the heart underneath all that neglect.

Marg is still thin, and we won't pretend otherwise. But she is healing. We have found a feeding program that works for her, and she has been wormed and had her teeth floated. Week by week, she is looking less like a shadow and more like herself.

And Marg loves people.

She has quickly become a barn favorite. She soaks up attention and will gently nudge you when you stop petting her, as if to say, “I'm still here.” She comes to her name in the pasture, follows you like a puppy, stands quietly for the farrier, does well with the vet, and gets along with the other horses.

There is no drama with Marg. Just kindness.

Marg's Second Chance

Marg does not have to leave A Ranch Horse. She can stay here for the rest of her days, safe and cared for.

If we do find her a home, we will be very selective about where she goes. Marg has already given enough of herself to the world.

We are asking only a small rehoming fee to help ensure that she is valued and that her new family is committed to her. An adoption contract will also be required to help protect Marg for the rest of her life.

Our priority is not selling Marg.

Our priority is loving her well.

Whether she stays here or finds the perfect forever home, Marg deserves a soft landing, a quiet pasture, and someone who will never let her feel forgotten again. ❤️🐴
