Maizie is a 12-year-old Standardbred mare standing around 15 hh, and she is one of those rare horses who captures your heart the moment you meet her. Gentle, soft-eyed, and full of quiet kindness, she has endured far more than she ever should have—but she has never lost her willingness to trust or her desire to be loved.

Maizie grew up pulling heavy farm machinery day after day, season after season. She gave everything she had, even when no one noticed the toll it was taking on her small body. That hard life left her with lasting damage to her back—damage she never deserved. But even with all she’s been through, Maizie has never stopped trying. She never pinned an ear, never soured, never quit. She simply kept going, like the good-hearted mare she is.

Our vet has fully evaluated Maizie, and the good news is that she’s expected to live a long, full, happy life. She’s not in chronic pain, and she can absolutely enjoy riding—with one limitation. Because of the trauma to her back, she is currently cleared to carry up to 100 pounds. She could potentially carry a bit more with vet supervision during a test ride, but her comfort will always come first. Other than that old injury, she passed every test with flying colors.

A $300 deposit will hold Maizie for 7 days. This deposit is nonrefundable, but it is transferable to another horse here if Maizie does not work for you.
