MAVERICK — 14-Year-Old Dark Bay Quarter Horse Gelding, Seasoned Ranch Horse
Maverick is a 14-year-old dark bay Quarter Horse gelding standing around 15 hands. He has a black mane and tail, a stocky build, and came from Peraita, New Mexico, where he was used in rough country and real ranch work.
This is a well-used, smart, trustworthy gelding with a lot of practical experience. He neck reins one-handed, rides low-headed, has a big stop, and will ride anywhere you point him. He has been used in most aspects of ranch work and handles normal country commotion like an old pro.
He is easy to catch, leads well, loads willingly, stands tied, saddles like a pro, takes the bit easily, and stands for mounting. He is good around dogs, cattle, other horses, rough ground, hills, gates, and everyday ranch obstacles.
Maverick could work for a confident beginner or intermediate beginner, but he is a broke and responsive horse. If you ask him for something, he will respond. He is not hot or hard to hold back, but he is trained and knows his cues.
He is sound, in good health, and has a current Coggins. He is not registered. His feet will be trimmed this week.
He is being offered because the ranch was downsizing some middle-aged geldings to make room for new arrivals.
